Summer Reading Challenge

Volunteers are needed in North Somerset’s libraries to help run this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, Silly Squad.

The annual scheme encourages children aged four to 11 to keep reading throughout the summer holidays and have fun visiting the library.

This year’s challenge runs from Saturday 11 July to Saturday 5 September and volunteers aged 14 and over are needed to talk to children about the books they have read and hand out rewards.

Flexible volunteering sessions are available at libraries across North Somerset, including the mobile library, and full training will be provided.

If you have a few hours to spare and are enthusiastic about encouraging children to enjoy reading, we would love to hear from you. You do not need any previous experience of volunteering or working in a library. To apply to volunteer or for more information,
